Mazda6 Ultra
The product concept for the Mazda6 Ultra was "Zoom-Zoom Evolution". And to bring this concept to full fruition, a no-compromise stance with "best in segment" as a key phrase was adopted. Mazda6's sporty styling and handling were enhanced without compromising the packaging and practicality-related attributes, while quality was raised – an essential factor in achieving best-in-segment status.
Power
Mazda6 Ultra’s MZI 3.7 V6 engine produces a rousing 200kW of power at 6,000rpm and 365Nm of torque at 4,250rpm. A six-speed Activematic transmission with Active Adaptive Shift (AAS) control is standard equipment for the V6 engine model. Mazda6 Ultra also offers a more extensive equipment list, and features include dynamic stability control, an advanced keyless entry system, and independent rear cooling vents.
Design
The design theme of "Bold and Exquisite" is embodied in sporty styling sure to turn heads. The front end – bumper, fenders and bonnet – gives Mazda6 Ultra a distinctive face that conveys a sense of power and an unmistakable Mazda identity, while power-bulge-like contours in the bonnet emphasize the impression of power.
Interior design for Mazda6 Ultra reflects sportiness and sophistication. The design team’s brief was to combine freshness with a level of refinement superior to that of Mazda6. The result is characterized by excellent build quality, functional elegance, and user-friendliness – in short an environment that inspires delight in both driver and passengers.
Handling
Targets for handling were driver confidence in diverse road, weather and load conditions; controllability characterized by oneness between car and driver for driving pleasure; and a flat, stable, firm ride. Emphasis was placed on the following three areas:
Steering precision and linearity for a feeling of oneness with the car.
Nimble liveliness enabling the driver to control the car exactly in accordance with his/her wishes.
Firmness that translates into stability in diverse weather and road surface conditions, and outstanding straight-line stability.
Safety
The braking system for Mazda6 Ultra provides responsive, linear deceleration for a feeling of reassurance and control. Brake feel is greatly enhanced, and in Mazda tests the system delivered better deceleration with less pedal effort and shorter pedal strokes. Starting from the Mazda Advanced Impact Distribution and Absorption System (MAIDAS), the latest impact technologies were utilized to optimize the layout and shape of the body shell’s front side members, perimeter frame and cabin to achieve a further improvement in crash safety.
